| Naruto Wallpaper Anyone? |
[May 13th, 2008 | 4:03 pm] |
|
So, um...I made these wallpapers a while ago. They're of various fan art I've come across on either DeviantArt or NarutoYaoi.com. If you see something you made and want credit, just let me know. Same goes for the song lyrics I used. Wanna know who sings it, just ask.
They're all 1024x768 because that's just what size I make. I decided to share because, hey, who doesn't love Naruto wallpaper? Some of them are kind of plain. But, they were for me. I don't require much, lol.

| express buses |
[May 13th, 2008 | 3:14 pm] |
Hey, as the MTA's website is totally unhelpful on this score - can you pay express bus fare with cash? If so, can you pay with a $5 bill, or will I need to get ten dollars worth of quarters somewhere in the next hour? I've never taken one of these before but need to go to remotest Brooklyn for work and there's no better way to get there. Thanks.
ETA: Okay, I thought maybe express buses took bills because they were more expensive, but they don't. That was all I needed to know. Thanks. |

| fic: Nothing Is Impossible |
[May 13th, 2008 | 9:12 pm] |
Title: Nothing is Impossible Author: purely_distel Character/Pairing: Ten/Rose, Martha, Jack, Donna, Jenny Rating: PG Beta: diapadme Spoilers: Up until 4x06 Summary: Who would have thought that meeting Rose Tyler would not make her bitter. Who would have thought that she would be the one to help Rose? Certainly not her. But, Martha thought as she, too, made her way back to the blue box, I should have guessed. After all, with the Doctor, nothing is impossible. Disclaimer: Well, if Who were mine I certainly wouldn't post here ... and I certainly would have had another sort of Doomsday so go figure! Author's Notes: Marthas POV, after Rose returns to the TARDIS.
She found her sitting on one of the dark and rough stones that scattered the surface of the small planet. It had not been easy to follow her quick retread... |

I am a member of the flatbush food co-op and they recently expanded. I've been meaning to go and since today is so gorgeous it seemed like the perfect biking destination.
ITS INCREDIBLE.
They have an outstanding bulk section and their stuff is so reasonably priced.
You can shop there even if your not a member, the membership fee to join isnt much, you can volunteer and get a larger discount depending on the amount of time you can dedicate.
They have a juice bar and a great produce section.
I'm really impressed and encourage everyone to check it out! It looks far on the subway map from manhattan but the q train gets you there mad fast from union square. Its worth it.

| postage stamp book banner |
[May 13th, 2008 | 11:33 am] |

I'm starting my promotion campaign • I'm designing several banners (feel free to use 'em) • I'm going to start up new blogs on the other various blogging sites and use a blog ap to put a new Postage Stamp cartoon every day • Create a PDF of the adult postage book and give it out to anyone who pre-orders the book set • send out PDFs of the books to bloggers and reviewers • start up a webpage specifically for the PSF (wordpress? is it good?)
Any other ideas? I'm open.
Here's the link for Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Postage-Stamp-Funnies-Shannon-Wheeler/dp/1593079834/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1207687179&sr=1-1 |

| Cooking...things... |
[May 13th, 2008 | 1:33 pm] |
|
My roommate is moving out in a few weeks, taking all of her kitchen stuff with her. Previously I wouldn't have cared, but I just started cooking for myself and I quite like it. So, I am going to be in need of things like pots, pans, utensils, etc. Where would be a good, inexpensive place to find such things? I have no idea how much they normally cost, so I don't know what 'inexpensive' looks like...but I imagine some of you do. I work near Broadway Panhandlers and just stopped in there on my lunch break, noticed a pots & pan set that costs more than my monthly rent, and promptly ran away. Help? |

| Doodles by Neil |
[May 13th, 2008 | 12:14 pm] |
National Doodle Day Auctions:
One
Two
As part of NF Awareness month, celebrity doodles will be available for auction on eBay from May 8th - 18th.
These doodles have a very important aim: the funds they raise will benefit NF, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing support to individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).
Neurofibromatosis is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 2,500 births. NF is more common than Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy and Huntington’s Disease combined. Funds raised from the Doodle Day auction will go to support education, advocacy, coalitions, and research for treatments and a cure.
He drew... A genie and Dream? They are going pretty high compared to some of the other ones. |

| Discussion! |
[May 13th, 2008 | 5:23 pm] |
Heya everybody,
Since there's been a craving for discussion material lately, I thought, why not try and start a discussion on something I've been thinking about lately and see if there're more people out there interested in this.
What I always find interesting is how, in relationship astrology, there's an emphasis on sign compatibility, aspects, house overlays, composite charts, etc. (Of course we always also have to look at the natal chart for relationship potential.)
But shouldn't NATAL house positions be more important than they usually are in synastry analysis? For example, what if person A has a huge 10th house emphasis, in the sign of Aries, when another person has a huge 4th house emphasis, in Leo. Most of their planets should still be trine but these people live with a totally different perspective on life; one being career-focused while the other feels there's more worth in a stable family life. Shouldn't this give enough friction, leaving trines and house overlays aside, for the two to have occasional struggles?
How do you feel about the little importance being (please don't get me wrong, I mean this IN COMPARISON to other aspects, like, house overlays or planetary aspects) given to natal house positioning in relationship analysis?
EDIT: Rephrasing question: do you feel (out of personal experience) natal house positioning is more important than the attention it's getting regarding the evolution of the relationship and where its headed and don't you think there should be more emphasis on that when people write synastry books? |

| High pollen counts ... arrghh!!! |
[May 13th, 2008 | 11:00 am] |
Okay, who else realized that the pollen counts are really high today?
I had a hard time trying to find local NYC pollen counts ratings and types so if anyone else has more accurate websites or sources, please share.
Meanwhile for those who are wondering how bad the pollen counts are predicted for these four days, meaning today, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: High, High, High and VERY HIGH. http://www.weather.com/outlook/health/allergies/weather/10001?from=36hr_outlet_allergies (Also yesterday, Monday, pollen count was: High)
From a different website with a little bit of a breakdown (closest region it indicates is actually for Newark, NJ): http://weather.weatherbug.com/NY/New%20York-weather/pollen-count.html?zcode=z6169&zip=10001 It is "High" and indicates it is for tree pollen, specifically: oak, birch, and maple. (Also on a numerical rating to 12, today's pollen count is a 9.8.) For some reason I like this site's use of bar chart and colors for different levels: Low = Green (Low = Green) Low-Medium = Yellow (Low-Medium = Yellow) Medium = Orange (Medium = Orange) Medium High = Red (Medium High = Red) High = Purple (High = Purple)
( For your edification, my own current symptoms ) |
